GRAMSod has many attributes. There is His Love, His Grace, His Mercy, His Longsuffering, His Benevolence and so many others.Attribute. It's hard to describe all the things that God is. This is what God does, but there is an attribute of God that is above and beyond all that He is. What is it?
Is love the greatest attribute of God?
God is love
This is the first attribute that most people think of as God.God is loveand that love shines through all eternity through the greatest act of love in all the history of eternity. John 3:16 says so„God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life..“This is the most famous of all scriptures and the one most people know by heart. It is the most quoted of all scriptures...but it is not God's greatest attribute.
God's mercy and grace
I think the best definition of grace and mercy is this:GraciaThis is where we get what we don't deserve, and mercy is where we don't get what we really deserve. Grace is unmerited forgiveness that is entirely the work of God. His mercy is the withholding of His wrath, which we deserve, but for those who are His, He mercifully turned His wrath against Jesus instead of us. Grace is a gift from God. It is not earned or deserved. We cannot do works to obtain it, and it certainly would not be merciful if we did works to obtain it. Paul makes this clear in his letter to the Ephesians:„For by grace you were saved through your faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not by works, lest anyone should boast.”(Ephesians 2:8-9). This is a spectacular teaching. The fact that we cannot be saved by works, so God had to stoop to give us the free gift of grace. When you give someone a gift, they didn't do anything to deserve it. They gave it to him freely and without obligation. This describes the grace given to the born-again.
Even his mercy will remain forever. We receive mercy the moment we place our trust in Jesus Christ after we repent and believe in Him. justice. Again, this is something we don't deserve, but it was given to us through Christ. It is the gift of His only Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16-17).
god is patient
This attribute of God is why He waits patiently before sending His Son to judge those who have not yet come to saving faith in Christ. Peter says: "The Lord does not hesitate to fulfill his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you and does not want anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”(2 Peter 3:9). What this seems to say is that the only reason Christ has not yet returned to judge unbelievers is that He is patiently waiting for others to come to repentance. How long-suffering is God? Remember that time is not for God, for„With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day.”(2 Peter 3:8). That's itpatienceunusual. Noah preached 120 years before God sent the flood and His judgment. God didn't have to wait. He would have been fully justified in sending the flood after 1, 5 or even 10 years, but for 120 years he patiently waited for the possibility that someone too might repent and believe in Noah (and therefore God).
God's Greatest Attribute
The absolute greatest attribute of God is that He is holy. The only time a quality of God is mentioned three times is that He is holy. In Jewish literary and written culture, some things are mentioned twice. This should give absolute priority and indicate the highest importance of something. Isaiah saw God on His throne in a vision, for no man can actually see God and be in His presence and not perish. It says so in Isaiah 6:1-3„I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the hem of his robe filled the temple. Above him [God] were seraphim, each with six wings: with two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two wings they flew. And they cried out to one another, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of his glory.„
First, a king's retinue represented his power and majesty. The larger the king's entourage, the more glorious or powerful he was perceived. Therefore, the fringe of God's robe filled the entire temple, which means that He is the King of kings and over all dominion and power. So we see that there were six-winged seraphim hovering over the throne of God. Interestingly, two wings covered their faces, because even for holy angels, God is too holy to even look at him. The angel's other wings covered his feet and, as you remember, God told Moses to take off his shoes, because he was treading on holy ground. The other wings covered the throne, like those of the cherubim that covered the ark and the great mercy seat. Finally, the holy angels repeated "holy, holy, holy". Maybe it's because there are three in the family of God (the Trinity), or maybe it's because God is infinitely holy and the number three represents God's omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence. The number three also represents the past, present and future. In the Bible, the number three also means divine perfection, which is obviously God.
No man can see God and live as God told Moses in Exodus 33:20, and even when Moses asked to see God, God hid Moses in the cleft of the rock and Moses only saw God's ass, otherwise Moses would have died ( Exodus 33). :18-23). In fact, as John said„No one has ever seen God, but God, who is after the Father, has made him known.”(John 1:18). God is the„Who alone is immortal and lives in the unapproachable light that no one has seen or can see”(1 Timothy 6:16). Remember that before he became Paul, Saul was blinded by the light of the intimidating glory that Paul saw in the streets of Damascus. Isaiah, after seeing God's vision, could only say:„Woe is me!” I exclaimed. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty”(Isaiah 6:5).
Revelation 4:8 tells us what is currently happening at the throne of God:„Each of the four creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes everywhere, including under the wings. Day and night they never cease to say, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.".“These angels are constantly praising God and declaring that He is holy, holy, holy. Holiness is difficult to describe. Holiness is complete "otherness," a clear transcendence of all others and everything else. So far is His Holiness that anyone who beholds God will die, and surely on the Day of Judgment all will fall and bow their knees. It is my prayer that today we will bend our knees in willing submission and believe in our Lord and our God, Jesus Christ. If not - for those who today refuse to bend their knees -willingbend the knee one way or another (Rom 14:11, Isaiah 45:23, Philippians 2:10). In fact, "Every hand gets weak and every knee gets weak as water”when one day they shall see God (Ezekiel 7:17).
God is holy, holy, holy
God's greatest attribute is his holiness. He is love, mercy, grace, patience and much more, yes, but most of all He is holy. Holy is the Lord our God. There is no blemish, no impurity, no imperfection... nothing but pure perfection and holiness. This holiness is why God will hold every sinner accountable for every work he has done in this life. For every idle word he will demand an answer. God is so holy that he cannot let sin go unpunished. His righteous indignation and wrath will be poured out on all the unrepentant (Rev 20). For those who have placed their trust in the living God Jesus Christ, the wrath of God has been placed on the perfect Lamb of God for them. Without this atonement, no man will ever see heaven. You will see the fire of hell. Today can be the day of your redemption (2 Cor 6,2). Tomorrow could be too late. When Jesus returns, it will beyour savioror your judge? If he returns before you have entrusted your eternal destiny to him, then your eternal destiny will be in total darkness, completely separated from him forever. You will be in a place that has a great chasm that cannot be bridged. You will be completely alone the entire time. Decide your vocation now: your savior awaits you with open arms and pierced hands. God can see you dressed in the righteousness of Jesus or in your own filthy rags. If you refuse to repent and turn to Him for salvation, He waits to judge you and condemn you to a place of eternal weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:42, 50). It's his decision. I pray that you will choose life, eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord and our God. Because he is holy, holy, holy. And we are not.
