Update 43.1 contains important announcements, which you can see on theAds for Cisco Webex Meetings Suite.

Highlights of this update

  • Scale end-to-end encrypted meeting to 1,000 participants

You can now host up to 1,000 participants in end-to-end encrypted (E2EE) v2 Webex meetings. The E2EEv2 meetings are part of Cisco's Zero Trust Security Initiative Webex and Cisco's security pillar that privacy is a fundamental human right.

  • Co-hosts can record, view and share cloud recordings and help anyone record

We are excited to announce that we will allow meeting co-hosts and participants to record a meeting in the cloud. This makes it easy to record a meeting when the host is unavailable or busy during the meeting. This was a highly requested feature from users who mentioned that it makes meetings less disruptive as any co-host or meeting participant can record the meeting.

This feature allows co-hosts or meeting participants to record the meeting, and allows a host to start, stop, or pause the recording. After the meeting ends, the recording still belongs to the organizer. However, the recording is automatically shared with co-hosts in the organization.

  • Enhance meeting security with automatic admission

We are pleased to introduce Auto Admit, designed to make your life as a meeting organizer easier while increasing the security of your meeting.

The new default behavior introduced with Auto Join allows attendees who are signed in to Webex to join a scheduled meeting directly without having to wait in the lobby. Stop letting people out of the lobby when they should be in the meeting anyway!

No passwords or PIN numbers required! Even Webex Room systems that you add to your meeting invitation can join the meeting directly.

Remind your guests to sign in to Webex to take advantage of this amazing new user experience enhancement.

Users who are not signed in to Webex and those who are not on the invite will continue to wait in the lobby until you or a co-host admits them.

    important instructions:

    1. This feature does not apply to Personal Room meetings.

    2. Settings for existing customers are considered with this feature. The lobby is the default for net new customers.

    3. Always allow participants in your organization to join unlocked meetings is now an admin-level option that controls the behavior of all meetings in your organization. Users in your organization who have not been invited to a meeting can no longer join unlocked meetings unless the new admin setting is enabled.

    4. In our advanced options for scheduled meetings, the behavior behind the following co-host settings has changed to check the status of attendees before assigning the co-host role.

      1. The first person to join the meeting who has a host account on the site becomes the co-host.

      2. All participants who have host accounts on this site become co-hosts when they join the meeting.

  • Stage Manager at Webex Webinars

The presenter and co-host can now give their webinar a polished, professional look by adding a background image and logo to the stage, and customizing the speaker name tag with names and subtitles. You can set the background, logo, and name tags on the information page before the webinar starts, or for a last-minute review during the webinar. Attendees will only see the stage produced and adjusted if you sync the stage for everyone.

    known issue:

    • The produced stage is displayed to panelists and guests in the Webex Meetings app. The produced scenario cannot be displayed in the device, recording, or webcast view. These come in updates.

    • If the panelist uses the telephone number provided by theapply by phoneFor direct dialing, the name and title that the host has set for them based on the email address will not be applied to the phone number.

What's new in the latest channel for Webex Meetings (2)

This feature is available in a delayed release cycle. Checkstatus.webex.com/maintenanceto see when it's available on your site.

  • Add NDI video export support for meetings and webinars

Meeting and webinar hosts can now enable NDI® streaming technology for their meetings and webinars. NDI is used in many video production environments to transport video streams over the network between applications and hardware devices. After the host has enabled the use of NDI onmeeting setup>and Management>Allow NDI technology for my meetings and webinarsAny host or co-host can enable NDI mode in their meeting client. The meeting host must have live streaming and NDI permissions in user settings in site administration or inProgressiveConfiguration per user in Control Hub. Existing live streaming users are automatically granted access to the NDI stream.

Activating this special mode allows you to receive high-quality broadcasts for up to four selected participants, video from local cameras, active speakers, and all shared content. More participant outputs can be created using additional applications in NDI mode.

The NDI interface allows you to select the output with a stream preview, remove the output from an existing stream, or change the participant that is sent with a preview. All meeting participant audio is mixed into the participant and active speaker channels.

Second search stream

We added a plus + button to continue adding multiple polls to your event from the Slido integration for more efficient event creation.

Required field in search

When creating a survey (in the Slido admin or any integration sidebar), you can tag all the questions as needed. Then it is visible in participant mode. You see an asterisk* at the end of the survey question and below the answer is an explanation of what the asterisk* means. If a user does not answer the required question, an error will be displayed.

Open text themes in Slidelabs

This feature enhances meetings by providing instant context to the moderator. Filter responses in the open text survey based on their topics. They are automatically generated for responses in English and appear in presentation mode. Recommended for meetings with many participants.

Webcast support for more than 10,000 users

Solid now supports webcast mode for 10,000 users or less. However, up to 5000 quiz participants are supported.

Webex Meetings Retention Policy Changes

Webex is removing the option to retain post-meeting data (recording and transcripts) indefinitely.

What's new in the latest channel for Webex Meetings (18)

This retention policy applies to meetings, webinars, training, and support.

Today, if the default retention policy is unlimited, the default retention period changes to 360 days, with the option to change it from 7 days to a maximum of 360 days.

For standard Webex customers, these changes will take effect in January 2023.

To prevent accidental interruption or deletion of old data, standard Webex customers can change the retention policy from unlimited in Control Hub to between seven days and 360 days.

Co-hosts can record, view and share cloud recordings and help anyone record

We are excited to announce that we will allow meeting co-hosts and participants to record a meeting in the cloud.

Webex Meetings para Android

End of life support for Android 6 and Android 7 starting January 1, 2023

Starting January 1, 2023, Webex Meetings will no longer be supported on Android 6 and Android 7.

  • Existing users of Webex Meetings on Android 6 and Android 7 will not receive new app updates. We recommend that your users update their devices to Android 8.

Existing users of Webex Meetings on Android 6 and Android 7 can continue to use their existing app.

New users of Android 6 and Android 7 cannot download or use the Webex Meetings app.

administrative experience

Admins can reassign a new host for scheduled meetings and webinars

If a meeting organizer leaves the company or moves to another group, the organizer is no longer valid for your scheduled meetings. Admins can assign a new host for scheduled meetings.

Admins can find the meeting using the original host's email address or meeting number and reassign a new host. The new host can manage the meetings. The direct benefit for clients is to maintain the original schedule with new hosts and avoid confusion among attendees.

In the first phase, this feature supports meetings and webinars scheduled from Webex meeting sites.

Meeting co-hosts and participants can make cloud-based recordings

For this feature, we will be adding two Control Hub switches. Webex administrators can choose to allow the meeting host, co-host, or meeting participants to record meetings in the cloud.

For more information, see Highlights of this update.

Flow updates for a user who joins a meeting and signs in or signs up for a Webex account using Google credentials

Due to a mandatory change by Google introduced with the 1/43 update. Starting January 1, the flow of users changed when they joined a Webex meeting and tried to register or sign in to their Webex account using their Google credentials. Today, registration or login is part of the app experience. However, starting with the 43.1 update, users are directed to the default system browser to complete the registration or login process before returning to the app to continue joining the meeting. The user will be informed in the application that a new browser tab will open where they must complete the registration or login process before they can join. Users who select Google as their social provider when registering or logging in will be affected. This change will carry over to Updates 42.6 (June) and 42.10 (October).

Custom dictionary - beta version

The custom dictionary feature in Control Hub allows administrators to specify custom non-vocabulary words that are not part of the default dictionary so that when these words are spoken in meetings, they can be more accurately transcribed in subtitles and transcription . Keywords can include terms such as acronyms and organizational jargon, technical terms, product names, and organization names. In this update, this dictionary is limited to 100 words and only supports the English language.

This update is in beta and will continue to improve the transcription accuracy of the custom dictionary feature in subsequent updates.

Improved policy template for IT admin settings for recordings

The settings template in Control Hub gives IT administrators the ability to apply per-organization, per-user, and per-group policies for meetings inside and outside their organization. For recordings, the settings template policy only applies when the user is the meeting host. With this version, the role of the user does not matter. If user has meeting recording feature (could be for many reasons such as enable co-host or anyone can record), change the configuration template with "Make sure if disabled, end user simply won't be able to record with a appropriate user message.

Add NDI video export support for meetings and webinars

Meeting and webinar hosts can now enable NDI® streaming technology for their meetings and webinars. NDI is used in many video production environments to transport video streams over the network between applications and hardware devices.

Update 42.12 contains important announcements that you may see in theAds for Cisco Webex Meetings Suite.

Highlights of this update
  • Hosts, co-hosts, and panelists to start private chats with attendees

Webinar hosts, co-hosts, and panelists can now start a private chat with participants from the chat panel or attendee list. Now you can proactively initiate communication with attendees without them needing to contact you first.

What's new in the latest channel for Webex Meetings (20)

The feature is available for desktop apps and Android users on 42.12. iOS customers can see this feature in 43.1.

  • The sharing control bar can now be manually expanded and collapsed

When splitting the screen, the control bar sometimes interferes with the content, and the automatic opening and closing can be annoying. These changes allow you to drag the bar left and right on the screen to see the content behind it. It can also be opened manually for better menu control.

  • The query must be managed by host and cohost

Hosts and co-hosts can manage embedded polls (not Solid) during meetings and webinars.

What's new in the latest channel for Webex Meetings (21)

Moderators cannot edit or manage the poll.

Hosts and co-hosts can edit surveys at the same time and receive notifications about who is editing the survey and who has already made changes to it. This makes asynchronous collaboration much easier.

What's new in the latest channel for Webex Meetings (22)

This feature is not available in webcast view.

  • The host's closed captioning status is independent of the host's Webex Assistant status

When the host activates the Webex Assistant, it no longer automatically activates the host title field; Instead, the title field's on or off state is independent and follows the same behavior as participants. That is, for all users, including hosts and participants, the on or off state of the title field depends on what the user last selected. For example, if the user had closed captioning turned on in their last meeting, they'll remember that setting and stay turned on in their next meeting, and vice versa, regardless of their Webex Assistant status.

  • iOS Webex Meetings App UX Improvements (iPhone and iPad)

The Webex Meetings app for iPhone and iPad has been redesigned to give users a better experience.

    • Styling update for interstitial page, More menu in meeting, plist, layout, layout options, and meeting chat.

    • Added the Virtual Background option in the More menu in meetings.

    • The meeting audio icon (headphones, speakerphone, and Bluetooth) has been moved to the lower call controls.

Restrict meeting experiences using registry keys on your corporate devices

IT admins can restrict their corporate devices to adhere to specific meeting experiences based on their corporate policies. This can be done by pressing a registration key on all company devices. For more information, seeCollaboration Restrictions for Webex Meetings in Control Hub.

When a user signs in today, they follow company policies, regardless of the device they use to join the meeting. This behavior changes with the installation of the registry key. If the restricted computer or device has a registry key, the experience will have the more restrictive policy going forward. For example, the device or computer restricts file transfers, but the user's policy allows this feature, if the user joins meetings with this restricted device, they will no longer be able to do file transfers in that meeting.

Update sites with external users for Control Hub administration

You can now upgrade site administration from Site Administration to Control Hub for sites that have users in other organizations.

New lobby controls for Personal Room meetings

New Personal Room meeting room controls recategorize guest users and separate them into two groups with separate room controls.

These two new user groups are:

  1. unverified users: Users who are not logged in and whose identity cannot be verified.

  2. Verified External Users: Users who are logged in but belong to a different organization than the one hosting the meeting.

Each of these user groups has separate and independent lobby controls:

  1. You can join the meeting.

  2. They wait in the lobby until the host lets them in.

  3. You cannot join the meeting.

By distinguishing between unconfirmed and verified external users, administrators can improve meeting security by applying stricter access controls to unconfirmed users. For example, unverified users cannot join the meeting while verified external users are placed in the lobby, or unverified users are placed in the lobby while verified external users can join the meeting directly .

Restrict meeting experiences using registry keys on your corporate devices

What's new in the latest channel for Webex Meetings (38)

This feature is available in the 42.11 update, but was added after the first November 2022 (42.11) features were released.

IT admins can restrict their corporate devices to adhere to specific meeting experiences based on their corporate policies. This can be done by pressing a registry key on all corporate devices. More information about the configuration:Collaboration Restrictions for Webex Meetings in Control Hub

When a user signs in today, they follow company policies, regardless of the device they use to join the meeting. This behavior changes with the installation of the registry key for this update. In the future, if the restricted computer or device has a registry key, the experience will be the most restrictive policy. For example, devices or machines restrict file transfers, but user policy allows this feature; if the user joins meetings with that restricted device, the user will no longer be able to perform file transfers in that meeting. We will go with the more restrictive policy.

Forced Authentication Before Joining Webex Meetings

In this update, IT administrators can now lock down the corporate device so that only authenticated corporate users can join meetings using that device. This feature is enabled in Control Hub.

This feature applies when you use a corporate device to join meetings that are held within your organization or attend external meetings (meetings that are held outside of your organization). This function uses registry keys and tokens that are entered. For more information about tokens and registry keys, see Sharing Restrictions forWebex Meetings without a Control Center.

Though without a registry keyauthenticated loginis turned on, this applies to anyone trying to join meetings with a claimed email address.

Ability for IT administrators to control the secondary camera experience for meeting users

IT admins can now decide whether or not their users should have the secondary camera feature in their meetings. Administrators can apply these settings to a specific user, to a group of users, to the entire organization using the Control Hub configuration template, or to the entire organization using organization-wide settings in Control Hub. Administrators can also choose which meetings (internal or external) these settings apply to using the options available to them in the settings templates.

The end user will receive a notification from the app when this secondary camera feature is disabled for use by IT administrators.

Trusted domains for Personal Room meetings and internal-only Personal Room meetings

This feature provides more granular control over internal Webex meetings.

Previously, this Control Hub feature allowed an administrator to hold all scheduled meetings and Personal Room meetings:

  1. Accessible to all external users

  2. Only accessible to users of approved email domains

  3. Accessible only to internal users

This function can be applied to:

  1. All users in the organization

  2. A group of users in the organization (using templates and user groups)

  3. A person in the organization

With this new feature, the above controls can only be applied to Personal Room meetings, allowing you to:

  1. Scheduled meetings and Personal Room meetings are accessible to all external users.

  2. Personal Room meetings are only accessible to users of approved email domains, scheduled meetings are accessible to all external users.

  3. Personal Room meetings are only accessible to internal users, scheduled meetings are accessible to any external user.

This Personal Room Meetings Only filter can be applied to all users in the organization, a group of users, or an individual user.

Woerterbuch persoenliches

The custom dictionary feature in Control Hub allows administrators to specify custom words that are not part of the default dictionary, so when these words are spoken in meetings, they can be more accurately transcribed in closed captions and transcription.

Hosts can give their admins access to meeting reports

This feature allows you to schedule delegates, typically senior administrators, to access meeting content, including recordings, transcripts, highlights, and attendance reports. This removes the burden of executives downloading this information and manually submitting it to their managers for further analysis or processing.

The delegate can also sign in on the Webex site page, select thiscalendaroption in the menu on the left, go toaccomplishedtouch and selectwhere i am delegatein the drop down menu. administrative experience

New look to manage site administration

We're changing the look of the meeting site admin pages in Control Hub. We make your experience managing your website consistent with managing other services in Control Hub.

The current site administration pages use iframes to get the site administration settings from Webex Site Administration to Control Hub. This UI update removes iframes and ports from most site administration settings on Control Hub pages. Meanwhile, all administrative activities are monitored in the Control Hub audit log. We offer customers the option to revert to the old site admin tool during this time, and the admin can also switch to a new site admin. (At this stage, we have completed the relevant functionality related to Webex Meetings and Webinar Meetings.) For more information, seeNew look for site administration.

Update Automatic SSO Account Creation in Website Conversion Tool

Site administration sites with automatic account creation can now be updated fromSite-Administration zu Control Hub.

Administrators mustset up your Control Hub ORG with automatic account creation and automatic license templatesbefore upgrading your site to Control Hub to avoid loss of functionality.

Possibility to disable broadcast messages.

Administrators can disable broadcast messages by using Control Hub templates for meetings and webinars. Controls to disable this feature are available at the user, group, or organization level.

If the administrator has disabled this for the user, the user will not be able to receive broadcast messages as a participant in a webinar or meeting. A user with broadcast messages disabled will not be able to use this feature in the meeting and will receive an appropriate client message. If the user is a host, the entire meeting cannot send messages.
